The Cherry Red record label played a significant role in the early 80's in terms of demonstrating unique and individual artists. The London based label was ahead of it's time for the 80's was turning into a decade consisting of experimental genres such as new wave,post-punk, thus releasing a breakthrough in alternative music. Throughout experimentation with these genres music was still accessible to the ears as it was catchy, rhythmic and lively. Cherry Red released the Pillows & Prayers compilation as a 2LP issue. It made it's way just in time for Christmas in 1982, and gave listeners an insight to the labels gentler and more experimental tracks. In 1984, Pillows & Prayers 2 was released. Both superb releases.
