Magnetic Fields - Holiday (1994)

We'll develop muscles from cracking coconuts...

So I was always skeptical to give these guys a shot. Mostly due to the types of people who would try to convince me they were good. One being an insane ex boyfriend, so you kind of get where I'm going with this. But then I gave 69 Love Songs a shot, and found it to be alright. There was just an overwhelming amount of music for someone who was unfamiliar with the band. I then picked up "Holiday" after sampling a few tracks and I fell in love. I've heard most of their albums extensively but this one is my favorite. It's completely different then anything I heard from them. It's fun, summery, catchy, and the lyrics are fantastic. If you're from the Chicago area you'd be familiar with a venue called Old Town School of Folk Music. Few years back they played a few sold out shows there. Sadly I missed my chance. It would of been a great venue to see those guys. Hopefully they return.
