The Chesterf!elds - Ask Johnny Dee (1987)

I absolutely love post-punk and new wave to bits but another favorite genre is the jangle pop and 60s revival that emerged in the mid-80s. These were mainly bands from England, New Zealand (Dunedin area), Australia, and a few faves from Southern USA (R.E.M., the db's, Let's Active). Lots of authentic sounds emerged from various labels in the UK - Sarah Records is one in particular that comes to mind. The Chesterf!elds are a great group that emerged out of  Somerset in 1984. They released a few 7" singles and debuted their album Kettle in 1987, which is an array of gorgeous indie pop.

This 7" was released in 1987 on the Subway Organization label based out of Bristol. This label features great British indie acts such as the Groove Farm, Soup Dragons, Razorcuts and plenty more. Below is the link for the 7" featuring 'Ask Johnny Dee' & "Pop Anarchy.'
Enjoy!
