Unrest - Imperial F.F.R.R. (1992)

I do believe you are blushin, everything in your mind is coming...

A darling compilation from one of my favorite bands of all time, Unrest. A DC band whose music emulated the late 80's early 90's jangle power-pop sound that pretty much dominated the music scene at that time. This album was released a year before Perfect Teeth. The two contain many similarities but this album has softer more jangle-pop components. Imperial is more drawn out in a sense that it goes from mellow, simple heart-wrenching tracks like Imperial and Isabel, to speedy jangle-pop gems such as Suki, Sugar Shack, I Do Believe You Are Blushing and Cherry Cream On. Once you surpass the fifteen seconds of the testing sounds of Volume Reference Tone, you're well on your way to enjoying one of the best indie pop albums of the entire 90s.
